CNSL Oil Expeller (Refinery Mill Plant) Manufacturer

OIL EXPELLERS

(Cashew Nut Shell Liquid) OIL Expeller Refinery Mill Plant Manufacturer in India

This is a dark reddish-brown viscous liquid present within the honey comb framework of the cashew nut shells, which consists of 20-30% of oil content based on shell type. Although majority of the population are aware of cashew kernels that are taken as food, few are aware of the fact that the cashew shell holds a precious industrial liquid, which is highly applicable in polymer, chemical, resin, rubber, and coating sectors.

CNSL oil is a non-edible bio-based, renewable industrial oil that contains a high percentage of unsaturated phenols such as cardanol, anacardic acid, and cardol and is ideal in the production of phenolic resins, specialty chemicals, adhesives, and polymers.

Sudarshan Oil Expellers, Ludhiana, Punjab, India, is a manufacturer of high-performance CNSL oil extraction plants with the highest yield and performance. Industrial clients in India and other parts of the world trust our oil expellers in Punjab.

Where Does CNSL Oil Come From?

Every cashew nut has:

  • An outer hard shell
  • A honeycomb-like inner layer
  • A liquid inside this structure which is CNSL oil.

When cashew kernels are processed, the shells are discarded which has a typical CNSL 20-30% by weight. Rather than discarding these shells as wastes, the latest processors recover CNSL oil through special mechanical CNSL oil expellers which produces high quality industrial CNSL oil to the international markets.

Why is CNSL Oil So Valuable?

CNSL oil is exceptional in the way that it is:

  • Heat-resistant
  • Chemically stable
  • Durable and bio-based
  • Economical and renewable as opposed to petroleum-based products.

It can be used in industrial-grade applications where petroleum-based oils prove less sustainable, such as in resin production, brake linings, coatings, rubber, and specialty chemical production.

Key Properties of CNSL Oil

CNSL oil has a number of distinctive characteristics that can be used in industry:

  • High thermal stability in high temperature application.
  • Outstanding resistance to corrosion and chemicals.
  • High binding and adhesive property.
  • High flexibility and hardness.
  • Natural affinity with polymers and rubber.
  • Extended shelf life under right storage conditions.

Due to these properties, CNSL is a green substitute of petroleum based chemicals, which are widely used both in India and abroad.

Applications of CNSL Oil

Some of the industrial products that use CNSL oil include:

  1. Brake Linings & Clutch Plates

CNSL based resins are perfect in friction materials because of heat resistance and resilience.

  1. Industrial Resins and adhesives.

The main raw material of phenolic resins is CNSL; it has applications in:

  • Plywood
  • Paints & Protective Coatings
  • Laminates
  • Industrial adhesives

Coatings made using CNSL are resistant to corrosion, chemicals, and moisture, particularly in marine and industrial settings.

  1. Rubber & Tyre Industry

CNSL is a modifier applied to enhance elasticity, durability and heat resistance.

  1. Specialty Chemicals

Processed into antioxidants, surfactants, stabilizers, and plastic additives.

  1. Other Uses

Anti-termite timber treatment, lubricants, biofuels and energy research uses, and nanomaterials.

How is CNSL Oil Extracted?

CNSL (Cashew Nut Shell Liquid) extraction is a mechanical but heat-regulated process which transforms cashew shell waste to industrial-grade CNSL oil. Sudarshan Oil Expellers develops CNSL oil extraction equipment in a manner that maximizes oil recovery, safety, and efficiency.

Step 1: Collection and Preparation of Cashew Shells

After cashew nuts are refined to produce edible kernels, they leave behind a huge amount of empty shells. The shells have CNSL oil trapped within their structure.

Before extraction:

  • Shells are collected in bulk
  • Too much moisture is avoided so that it gives the best oil release.
  • Big impurities such as stones or dusts are filtered out.

Oil yield and machine protection is enhanced by proper preparation.

Step 2: Feeding the Shells into the CNSL Oil Expeller.

Cashew shells that are prepared are placed into a CNSL oil expeller machine, which can be fed by hand or by using a feeding mechanism, e.g., conveyor or hopper.

Inside the expeller:

  • Shells are propelled by a rotating screw.
  • Continuous feeding maintains consistent pressure and constant oil flow.
  • Controlled feeding eliminates choking, unequal extraction and overheating.
Step 3: Mechanical Pressing - Oil Release Stage.

This is the main extraction step. During the passage of the shells through the expeller:

  • The pressure builds up slowly.
  • Breaking occurs in the hard shell structure.
  • The oil is expelled through small holes in the CNSL.
  • There are no chemicals or solvents involved, the oil is harvested through mere mechanical power.

The design of expellers is heavy-duty to ensure:

  • High oil recovery
  • Very little oil in shell residues.
  • Long machine life
Step 4: Secure Removal of the Extracted CNSL Oil

The CNSL oil obtained is discharged out of the expeller and collected by:

  • Enclosed channels
  • Oil trays or pipelines
  • Collection tanks

At this stage:

  • The oil is crude and unrefined.
  • It can include impurities or reactive compounds.

Proper collection helps to avoid exposure, spillage, and contamination.

Step 5: Heat Treatment and Conditioning

Raw CNSL oil is extremely reactive and inflammatory. Heat treatment is done to make it stable and fit to be used in industrial applications.

In a reaction vessel:

  • CNSL oil is gently heated
  • Steam may be introduced
  • Toxic substances are neutralized.
  • Oil is made more stable and usable.

This step also:

  • Improves storage life
  • Improves consistency of quality.
  • Makes oil safer to handle

Sudarshan Oil Expellers incorporate controlled heating processes in order to have safe and efficient processing.

Step 6: Filtration & Removal of impurities (Optional Upgrade)

For better quality:

  • The coarse particles are filtered.
  • Clean oil is separated

This step is advisable when the oil is to be used for:

  • Export
  • Chemical industries
  • High-grade applications

Cleaner oil is priced higher in the market.

Step 7: Storage or Additional Processing.

The completed CNSL oil is stored in:

  • Storage tanks made of mild steel or coated.
  • Leak-proof containers

From here, the oil can be:

  • Sold as technical CNSL
  • Further refined or distilled.

CNSL is used to produce CNSL derivatives such as cardanol.

Oil is stored properly, which preserves the quality and ensures that it is not oxidized.
